Vol. 315 No. 8

Written Answers. - Carbury (Kildare) Garda Station.

88.

asked the Minister for Justice if, and when, an additional garda sergeant was assigned to Carbury Garda Station in County Kildare as indicated in his reply to Question 379 of 1 March 1978.

The reply of 1 March 1978 indicated that it was intended to assign a sergeant to Carbury as soon as practicable having regard to other demands on Garda manpower. The Garda authorities have informed me that, due to more urgent demands for increased Garda strength in other areas, it has not yet been possible to do that.

I am not in a position at this stage to say when the vacancy will be filled but, pending the assignment of a sergeant to the centre, the Garda service provided in the Carbury area will continue to be supplemented by assistance from the District Headquarters at Kildare, as and when required.
