Vol. 315 No. 8

Written Answers. - Water Schemes.

92.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will list the group water schemes in County Meath for which designs have been submitted and are presently under examination, the date they were submitted, the number of households to be served in each case and when it is expected a decision will be made.

The following designs for group water schemes in County Meath are at present before my Department:

Date Received

1. Briarleas to serve approximately six houses

19 February 1979.

2. Fairyhouse Lower to serve approximately 25 houses

12 February 1979.

3. Gernonstown Stackallen to serve approximately 29 houses

19 April 1979.

4. Kilmer Ballivor to serve approximately 12 houses

3 April 1979.

5. Kilmessan to serve approximately 69 houses

2 May 1979.

6. Lionsden to serve approximately five houses

16 November 1978.

7. Milestown Road to serve approximately 23 houses

19 April 1979.

8. Summerhill to serve approximately 44 houses

4 July 1978.

Meath County Council requested a revised design for the Summerhill scheme and this is at present under examination by the council. The design for the Lionsden group water scheme cannot be approved until a suitable source is provided to serve the group.

The remaining designs are at present under examination and I am not in a position to say when approval will issue.

andMr. Clinton asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the proposed water storage scheme at Kilcock and Celbridge, County Kildare, for which contract documents were received in July 1975; if approval has been given and the likely benefits for the residents of the area.

I have recently approved contract documents for the provision of a reservoir at Ballygoran for the Celbridge area. This reservoir will stabilise the water supply to the area, improve pressures and facilitate extensions of the distribution system.

Contract documents for the reservoir at Kilcock are under consideration in my Department. I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to convey a decision thereon to the local authority. This reservoir will provide benefits similar to that at Ballygoran but I understand that the supply and pressures in the Kilcock area are satisfactory at present and that the reservoir is not of immediate urgency.
