Vol. 315 No. 12

Written Answers. - Lost Man-Days.

178.

asked the Minister for Labour the total number of man-days lost due to industrial disputes in the first six months of 1978 and estimated for 1979.

Statistics issued by the Central Statistics Office indicate that 280,250 man-days were lost due to industrial disputes in the first six months of 1978. Statistics are not yet available for 1979, but my Department estimates that about 1,308,000 man-days were lost during the first six months of 1979 of which 1,117,500 were accounted for by the postal dispute and 190,500 by other disputes.
