Vol. 316 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Site Development.

402.

asked the Minister for Finance the proposals for the site recently acquired through the Office of Public Works by the Department of Education at Waterford Street, Dublin, the length of time needed to develop the site, if there are now undue delays in the development of this site and if he is aware of the desirability of having this site developed as fast as possible in view of the corporation's proposals for the remainder of the adjacent site.

A contract for sale has been executed in respect of the site and the legal formalities leading to completion of the transaction are in hand but the Commissioners of Public Works are not yet in possession of the site.

It is proposed to build offices on the site for the accommodation of Government staff. Arrangements have been made for the commencement of preliminary planning but at this stage and having regard to the magnitude of the scheme it is not possible to say what length of time will be needed to complete the development. The commissioners intend to develop the site as quickly as possible.
