asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when work on the new automatic telephone exchange will commence in Boyle, County Roscommon, and whether this exchange will be fully automatic or a subexchange.

It is expected that construction of an automatic exchange building will commence at Boyle early next year and that conversion to automatic working will take place in 1982. The new exchange at Boyle will be fully automatic.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the increase in the number of subscribers' terminations at automatic exchanges in the four year period to June 1977 and in the four-year period to June 1973; the number of telephone connections, increase in trunk circuits, increase in trunk mileage, new telex lines added, new data transmissions terminals provided, telephone exchange buildings completed and postal buildings completed over the same periods.

There is a telephone kiosk approximately 360 metres from this housing estate and the provision of an additional one in the area would not be warranted.
