Vol. 316 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Foxrock (Dublin) Telephone Cable.

6.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the completion of the telephone cable installation and jointing will commence at Westminster Lawns, Foxrock, Dublin 18.

(Dublin South-Central): This work is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of next year. It had been planned to begin it earlier but other more urgent works prevented this being done.

Could the Minister of State give an undertaking to expedite the completion of the jointing and cable installation in this area? There is a large number of persons living there, some of them with high priority, some of them with substantial business and industrial interests, who are urgently in need of telephones in their homes? Will the Minister of State have that put back on the priority list where is was six months ago?

(Dublin South-Central): I cannot give any undertaking but we are hoping to expedite this type of cabling due to certain agreements which have been reached.
