asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement installation of fireplace grant will be paid to an applicant (details supplied) in County Dublin, who applied in April last and the amount of the grant.
Written Answers. - Fireplace Grant.
An application in this case for a house improvement grant towards the cost of providing an extension and for a special grant towards the cost of installing a fireplace was received in my Department on 5 June 1979.
As a new house grant had been paid in 1974-75, the question of a further grant for the extension had to be examined on the basis of the statutory limitations applying to such further grants. On this basis, overcrowding does not exist and a further grant is not in order.
The applicant does, however, qualify for a special grant for the installation of a fireplace in a house without one and when the file has been returned to the Department by the inspector, a certificate of approval showing the amount of the grant will be issued.
