Vol. 317 No. 2

Written Answers. - Recognition of Irish Driving Licences.

18.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to recent newspaper reports in Britain suggesting that the British road traffic authorities are being approached with a view to nonrecognition of Irish driving licences arising from his recent regulation issuing full licences to certain provisional licence holders in the Republic and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Irish driving licences are recognised for use in the UK as in other countries in the case of visitors, in pursuance of an international convention. I am unaware of any steps by the UK towards altering these arrangements.
