Vol. 317 No. 4

Written Answers. - Manufacturing Industry Tax.

399.

asked the Minister for Finance the estimated annual revenue in income tax and corporation tax in 1979 from manufacturing industry and the percentage it represents of income accruing to that sector.

Most manufacturing industry is carried on by companies which are liable to corporation tax. The current year yield of corporation tax from manufacturing companies is of the order of £17 million. Statistics are not available which would enable an estimate to be made of the yield of income tax from individuals carrying on manufacturing activities.

Statistics of the income accruing to the manufacturing sector in the current year are not available.
