The approximate cost of paying interest on all debts undertaken by the Exchequer from 5 July, 1977 to 30 November, 1979 is: (a) Payments from 1 January 1979 to 30 November 1979—£143 million; (b) Payments from 1 January 1979 to 31 December 1979—£172 million.
