Vol. 317 No. 4

Written Answers. - Electrical Re-Wiring Grants.

475.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have electrical re-wiring grants paid to local authority tenants who wish to rewire their houses at their own expense.

It is not intended to alter the present arrangement under which the cost of electrical re-wiring, as part of a scheme of improvement works in a house, can be included in calculating the amount of the grant, where the cost of the electrical work does not exceed 50 per cent of the total cost of the improvement scheme. A local authority tenant, with the consent of the local authority, may apply for such a grant.
