The number of farmers participating in the Milk Recording Scheme at 31 December 1978 was 970 and is at present 1,200.
With a view to increasing participation in the scheme, I established a study group to examine all aspects of milk recording. The report of the group was published earlier this year and I have already taken the initial steps to implement its recommendations.
