The factory being constructed at Dinish Island, Castletownbere, County Cork, is expected to be completed by August 1980. The Industrial Development Authority has approved grant assistance to a fish processing project which will locate in the factory and it is hoped that operation will commence by early 1981 at the latest. It is expected that this project will employ 140 people when it reaches full production.
The IDA is currently carrying out an extensive promotional campaign to publicise the incentives that exist for the development and expansion of small Irish firms and to encourage first-time native entrepreneurs to establish manufacturing projects. On 15 February the IDA organised a seminar in Bantry which provided an opportunity for persons in the Beara area who might be interested in establishing new enterprises or expanding existing ones to obtain information on the assistance available and to discuss their proposals with the IDA.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism if his attention has been drawn to the need for an industry at Drimoleague, County Cork, and if he will arrange to have an advance factory built there.
In its industrial plan 1978-'82 the Industrial Development Authority has set a target for the creation of 600 new jobs in the town group which includes Bantry, Skibbereen and Dunmanway. Drimoleague is situated in the centre of this group of towns and is well placed to benefit from the industrial development which is taking place in the area as a whole.
The authority is prepared to support, with its full range of incentives, any suitable industrial project which may be proposed for location in Drimoleague, but has no plans at present for the construction of an advance factory there.
