Vol. 318 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bord na Móna Pension Scheme.

367.

asked the Minister for Energy if he will introduce a retirement pension scheme for Bord na Móna workers with 30 years service.

The introduction of pension retirement benefits for Bord na Móna workers is primarily a matter for the board themselves. The superannuation arrangements in operation in Bord na Móna provide for retirement benefits or preserved retirement benefits for their employees. Superannuation benefits are based on reckonable service and full benefits are attainable only after 40 years service subject however to the minimum retirement age requirement being fulfilled. The conditions and benefits available to Bord na Móna workers under these schemes are broadly similar to those available elsewhere in the public sector.
