The total cost of salaries contained in the pre-Budget estimates for non-capital supply services in 1980 is £1,292,400,000, representing 49.7 per cent of the total provision for such services. In 1979 and 1977 the corresponding proportions were 45.6 per cent and 46.0 per cent respectively. Information is not available in a form which would make it possible to calculate a corresponding figure in respect of 1973.
