Vol. 318 No. 4

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

330.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

Arrangements to provide service within the next week or so are already in train.

333.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when his Department intend to erect all the public telephone kiosks scheduled for County Galway in 1979.

The programme for the erection of kiosks in County Galway in 1979 was, regrettably, disrupted by the postal strike. Six of the 24 kiosks planned were installed. It is expected that the kiosks at four other centres will be erected within the next two months. Local authority approval to the sites selected has been sought in four other cases. Local authority approval will be sought shortly for the sites selected at ten centres. The kiosks at the centres where local authority approval has not yet been received or sought will be erected within two months or so of receipt of the necessary approval.

334.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number and location of all public telephone kiosks scheduled for erection in County Galway in 1980.

It is planned to provide 26 telephone kiosks at the following locations: Bullaun; Cashel; Castlegar; Clonberne; Cortoon Church; Clonboo Cross; Derrybrien; Derrydonnell; Galway City (5); Gurtymadden; Inishmaan; Kilnaphrasrogue; Kiltullagh; Kylemore; Killeenan; Lettermullen; Maree/Tawin; Peterswell; Portumna; Rossaveal; Sylane; Poolboy (Ballinasloe).

337.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Galway who made application four years ago.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Galway who made application five years ago.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take questions Nos. 337 and 338 together. Service cannot be provided for these applicants at present because of a shortage of equipment at the local exchange. It is expected that this will be remedied about the middle of next year and service will be provided for the two applicants then.

It is expected that terms will be quoted within six months or so. Service is normally provided within three months of the signing of an agreement.
