Vol. 318 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sewerage Schemes.

380.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he proposes to sanction the loan for the completion of the Mornington Sewerage Scheme, County Meath.

I approved the preparation of contract documents for Stage 2 of the Mornington Sewerage Scheme in August 1979. The question of finance will not arise until the scheme has been fully planned and approved.

381.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the concern in Bantry, County Cork, at the fact that sewerage from the new scheme of houses will be discharged into the sea within 60 feet from the bathing area, if he has satisfied himself with these circumstances and if he will have the plans altered to provide for a more acceptable method of discharge.

My attention has not been so drawn. My Department understand from Cork County Council that the sewage from the new scheme of houses erected by the council is being pumped into the Bantry town sewerage system, which will discharge to a sea outfall at Blackrock Point well away from the main bathing areas.
