Vol. 318 No. 6

Written Answers. - Home Improvement Grants.

382.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of staff involved in the administration of the house improvement grant and oil conversion grant schemes and where this staff will be relocated in the future.

The number of staff engaged on duties in the housing grants section of my Department is 163, comprising 88 administrative and 75 technical officers. These staff are all engaged on duties in relation to applications made not only under the schemes mentioned by the Deputy but also on duties in relation to new house grant applications and house price control. In view of the very heavy volume of applications being dealt with, this position will continue for some time. The question of future relocation of staff does not arise at present nor have decisions been taken in the matter.

383.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the delay in paying a home improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in Dublin and when this grant will be paid.

Any delay in dealing with this case is due to the fact that the applicant has not notified my Department that the approved work has been completed and is ready for inspection. An inspection will now be arranged with a view to payment of the grant, if in order.
