Vol. 318 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dunboyne (Meath) New Secondary School.

396.

asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the urgent necessity to have a secondary school erected in Dunboyne, County Meath, to cater for approximately 350 pupils seeking accommodation next year, in view of the fact that all the neighbouring secondary schools are already overcrowded.

My Department's records indicate that 65 pupils will complete their primary schooling in Dunboyne this year. This is less than the corresponding number in 1979.

Dunboyne is in the Blanchardstown catchment area and I am satisfied that the schools in the area will be able to meet the demand for places in the case of Dunboyne pupils in the immediate period ahead.

The situation will be kept under review with the intention of providing a school when the circumstances would appear to warrant it.
