Vol. 318 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Dublin Truancy Problem.

395.

asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, to introduce school attendance officers to areas of Dublin County in view of the increasing population in these areas and the unsatisfactory nature of the present response to the problem of truancy.

It is understood that the task force set up by the Minister for Health to make recommendations on child care services may make recommendations in regard to matters related to school attendance.

It is not considered that in the meantime amendments should be introduced to the existing legislation.
