249.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when automatic telephone exchanges will be provided at Kilronan, and Clifden, County Galway.

Automatic telephone service will be provided at Kilronan in June 1980 and at Clifden towards the end of 1982.

251.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

Provision of service is dependent on cabling works which it is planned to carry out next year. Service will be provided as soon as possible after the necessary cabling is completed.

252.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants awaiting telephone service in Barnacullia and Woodside, Sandyford, County Dublin, and when a service will be provided.

The numbers are seven and two respectively. Service will be provided when major underground cabling works, on which provision of service is dependent, are carried out next year.

253.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a priority list for the installation of telephones is still maintained by his Department and if so, if he will indicate how this operates.

A list of priority categories is still maintained. Those in the priority categories are given precedence over other applicants in the provision of service where the necessary cable, exchange terminations and so on, are available. Special steps are taken to provide service where the need for a telephone is clearly very compelling, such as for life and death services or organisations making an important contribution to the welfare of the community.

254.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be repaired and restored to a person (details supplied) in Dublin in view of domestic circumstances.

It is expected that the fault in the cable which has delayed the provision of service will be repaired within the next two weeks. The delay is regretted.

255.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin and if priority will be given in this case as the people involved are elderly.

Service cannot, it is regretted, be provided until underground cabling works, on which provision of service is dependent, are carried out next year. The telephone will be installed as soon as the cabling becomes available.
