Vol. 319 No. 8

Written Answers. - Ambulance Nurses.

212.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the present situation in regard to ambulance nurses who are paid part-time and on a call basis, the average income of such nurses, if he considers their treatment to be satisfactory and if he has any proposals for changes in this regard.

The remuneration of temporary part-time nurses employed on a casual basis for ambulance duty is a matter for the chief executive officer of each health board. Generally part-time nurses so employed are paid a fee per call-out. The income would vary from nurse to nurse depending on the number of calls answered.

No dissatisfaction has been expressed to me regarding these payments nor has any claim been lodged through the agreed negotiating channels for a revision of these fees.
