Vol. 319 No. 9

Written Answers. - Portmarnock (Dublin) National School.

298.

asked the Minister for Finance the reasons for the delay of 12 months in the preparation of sketch plans for stage II of St. Helen's national school, Portmarnock, County Dublin, when such plans will be sent to the Department of Education for their approval, and if any moneys have been made available in the current year for the commencement of this school.

Stage I of St. Helen's national school, Portmarnock, will be completed later this year. As the site is under the proposed new flight path from Dublin Airport certain features were incorporated in the design to minimise the impact of noise from aircraft.

Sketch plans for stage II were submitted to the Office of Public Works in November 1979. The Office of Public Works are evaluating the efficacy of the special features in the construction of stage I before approving the plans for stage II.

It is not possible, at this point, to say when the plans will be sent to the Department of Education but it is unlikely that expenditure will be incurred this year on the project.
