asked the Minister for the Environment in relation to each of the building societies which furnish returns to him: (a) the total amount of money out on loan for the purpose of acquiring private dwellinghouses and (b) the total amount of money out on loan for the purpose of acquiring other types of property, and the percentage of the total advanced by each society which is represented by each of the above.

This information is not available in my Department. However, I understand that well over 95 per cent of all building society lending is for the purposes of acquiring private dwellinghouues.
