Vol. 321 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

237.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason an application for a telephone service by an association (details supplied) made in November, 1978, has not received the urgent attention which is necessary, given the nature of the work carried out by this body.

The underground cabling necessary to provide service in the area is not available and it is likely to be well into next year before the additional cabling required to make further telephone installations in the area can be carried out. Exceptional arrangements for the provision of one of the extra seven lines sought at the organisation's Crumlin address are, however, in train and if it is possible to provide more in advance of the cabling scheme this will be done.

238.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has received any approaches from Dublin County Council to have a public telephone system installed at the Shanganagh Estate, County Dublin, with particular reference to the Shanganagh Cliffs area.

No, but it is proposed to provide a kiosk in this area as soon as the necessary consent to a suitable site have been obtained.
