Vol. 321 No. 2

Written Answers. - Consumer Price Increases.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance the total increase in consumer prices, in (a) percentage terms, and (b) monetary terms in a 12-month period due to the increases in taxation in the 1980 Budget.

The consumer price index is expected to increase by 3.8 per cent in a 12-month period as a result of the tax increases in the budget. It is not possible to give an accurate assessment of the effect in monetary terms in the absence of up-to-date national household budget survey information.

24.

asked the Minister for Finance if moneys are available for the prevention of coastal erosion at Maharess, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Commissioners of Public Works are awaiting the making of a Prohibitory Order to prevent the removal of beach material under the Foreshore Act, 1933, and as soon as this is made the proposal by Kerry County Council for coast protection works at the Maharees will be further processed with a view to starting work as early as possible.
