Vol. 321 No. 5

Written Answers. - Mayo Sewerage Schemes.

351.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position regarding the provision of a sewerage scheme at Mulranny, County Mayo.

Contract documents for the Mulranny sewerage scheme are at present under consideration in my Department. Having regard to the need to conserve capital for the schemes of highest priority I cannot say when I will be in a position to convey a decision to the local authority on this scheme.

352.

asked the Minister for the Environment when contract documents for the provision of a sewerage scheme for Keel, Achill, County Mayo were received in his Department and if he intends to provide money for this scheme this year.

The council's proposals for this scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes and the number of such schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time. I cannot say at this stage when my Department will be in a position to convey a decision to the local authority on this scheme, revised contract documents for which were received in my Department in July 1975. The question of the provision of finance does not arise until a scheme has been fully approved.
