Vol. 321 No. 5

Written Answers. - Achill Water Supply.

350.

Mr. Gallagher

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the urgent need to provide a water supply for the promotion of the fishing industry at Darbys Point, Achill, County Mayo where there is an expanding fishing fleet and when his Department will sanction the selection of tenders on Stage 4 of the Achill regional water scheme so that the hardship now being endured by fishermen using this port can be alleviated.

Stage 4 of the Achill regional water supply scheme is designed to be carried out in two phases, 4A and 4B. I approved the preparation of contract documents for stage 4A of the scheme on 31 May 1979. The selection of tenders does not arise at this stage.
