Vol. 322 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Pollution Allegation.

367.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will investigate allegations that there is a seepage of pollution from a company premises (details supplied) in Dublin into the Santry River at regular intervals and if he will have an urgent inspection carried out to ascertain the validity of these allegations.

Under the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977, it is a matter for the local authority to investigate any instances of water pollution in its functional area and to take any necessary remedial action. I understand that some problems arose from drainage irregularities in the premises of the firm in question but that following investigation by Dublin Corporation an undertaking has been received from the firm that the matter is being rectified.
