asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that Donegal County Council have already received 86 applications for the 21 houses being built in Carndonagh from families in the area whose housing needs are urgent; and, in view of the fact that a number of further applications are anticipated, the steps he proposes to take to meet this appalling situation, which amounts to a housing crisis, in this area.

Information as to the number of applicants for particular schemes is not available in my Department. It is a matter for Donegal County Council in the first instance to formulate proposals for a further scheme in Carndonagh having regard to the housing needs in that area.
