Vol. 322 No. 11

Written Answers. - Mayo County Council Housing.

37.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received an application from Mayo County Council for a financial allocation to complete houses for which the council have an existing commitment and proposals for new works; the amount of finance he has allocated to date; when he proposes to allocate additional finance; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In January 1980 Mayo County Council submitted an application for a financial allocation of £2,941,700 to meet existing commitments at 31 December last on their local authority housing programme and to finance new work to be started before 31 March last.

On 14 March 1980 the council were allocated £2,100,000 for this purpose.

The council have also submitted an application for capital funds in respect of new works due to commence before 31 July 1980. The application is at present being considered in conjunction with similar claims from other housing authorities. I cannot say when I will be in a position to make a decision on the council's application.
