andMr. Harte asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that there are now fifty pupils enrolled at Craigtown national school, Carndonagh, County Donegal, that through the efforts of the parents a water supply has been provided and that it is proposed to provide a central heating system in the near future; if, in the circumstances, he will accede to the unanimous wish of the parents that the school remains open; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: In 1975 my Department were given to understand that there was local agreement to a proposal that Craigtown national school amalgamate with Carndonagh boys' and girls' schools in a new school building. Plans for the provision of the new school were put in hands accordingly.

In response to a request from the management authorities of Craigtown school arrangements have been made for my Department's inspector to meet the parents again.

I will have another look at the position when the inspector's report is available.

asked the Minister for Education the identity of each of the members of the board of management of a school (details supplied) in County Donegal; the interest represented by each such member; and the proportion of the local contribution towards the cost of the permanent new school which falls to be paid by each of the interests involved.

: As in other national schools, the interests involved in the management of this national school are the patron of the school, the parents and the teachers. It is not the practice to give the identity of the individual members of school management boards.

The provision of the local contribution towards the cost of the proposed new school will be the responsibility of the patron.
