Vol. 324 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Donegal Schools.

223.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay regarding the proposed national school at Glenswilly, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The tender for the extension of Glenswilly national school, County Donegal, was in excess of the cost-limit. The possibility of bringing the tender within the cost-limit was examined by my Department in consultation with the Commissioners of Public Works and agreement was reached on acceptable reductions. Subject to the implementation of the agreed reductions, I have authorised the Commissioners of Public Works to allow the project to proceed to contract. I understand that the contract should be signed very soon.

226.

asked the Minister for Education if he will indicate when he proposes to sanction the extension for Muff national school, County Donegal.

A grant has been sanctioned for the provision of four additional classrooms and a general purpose room at Muff national school. The Commissioners of Public Works are attending to arrangements for the preparation of working drawings.

It is not possible to say at this stage when building work may commence.
