Vol. 324 No. 8

Written Answers. - Kerry Group Water Scheme.

335.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry was refused permission to join Scartaglin group water scheme.

There is no record in my Department of a group water scheme at Scartaglin, County Kerry.

However, there is a public water scheme at Scartaglin which was recently carried out under Kerry County Council's small schemes programme to supply water to Scartaglin village.

I understand from Kerry County Council that they refused permission to the person in question to connect to the scheme because it is not good engineering practice to make connections to a rising main and also, since the reserve capacity of the source has not yet been determined, it is not possible at this stage to allow connections to this rising main.
