Vol. 325 No. 1

Written Answers. - Navan Road (Dublin) Home Safety Precautions.

347.

asked the Minister for Health if he is satisfied that St. Vincent's Home, Navan Road, Dublin, is not a fire hazard; if adequate safety precautions have been provided against the danger of fire; and if he will make a statement of the matter.

There are external fire escapes at the home and a system of fire drills has been established. In addition I have approved of a scheme of fire precautions for this home.

Under the scheme additional hoses and fire extinguishers have been provided and electrical connections renewed. External escape chutes will be provided shortly and the replacement of internal wooden stairways by concrete stairs and the provision of fireproof doors has been approved by my Department and is being planned by the home's architect.
