Written Answers. - Forestry Workers Pensions.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the highest and lowest pension and lump sum now in payment to forestry workers who were State industrial workers and retired or were retired in 1980 in the form of a reply of 18 November 1980.

The highest and lowest pension and lump sum now in payment to forest workers who retired or were retired in 1980 are set out in the following table:

1. The highest pension now in payment is £974.28 with effect from 26 May 1980.

The details are as follows: (a) Service: 37 years 22 days and 2 years 239 days added service equals 40 years; (b) Pensionable remuneration on retirement amounted to £4,082.56; (c) Added service is 2 years 239 days; (d) Gratuity amounted to £6,123.84.

2. The lowest pension now in payment is £179.40 with effect from 9 February 1980.

The details are as follows: (a) Service: 9 years 87 days; (b) Pensionable remuneration on retirement amounted to £3,575.18; (c) No added service; (d) Gratuity amounted to £1,251.31.

The recipients in each of the above cases also qualifies for a pension under the Social Welfare Acts.
