The delay in the Heaneys group water scheme in County Donegal is due to the fact that there were objections to the taking of water from the lake which had been chosen as a source for the scheme. This problem has recently been resolved.
Donegal County Council have sought the approval of my Department to the making of a special contribution towards the cost of increased pipe sizes and head works on the scheme and this request is at present under examination.
It is not yet possible to say when work will commence on the scheme.
