Vol. 325 No. 4

Written Answers. - Primary Schools Building Costs.

352.

asked the Minister for Finance the total amount collected by him in respect of the local contribution to the cost of building new primary schools in each of the last three years for which figures are available; and the average percentage of the total capital costs represented by such contributions in each of those years.

Local contributions to the cost of new primary schools and extensions to existing schools are collected by the office of Public Works only in respect of projects where that office place the contract. The total of local contributions collected in the years 1977, 1978 and 1979 was £261,190, £220,098 and £506,465. The average local contribution is approximately 12½ per cent of the cost of the project.
