Vol. 325 No. 4

Written Answers. - Meath House Repairs.

437.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he expects to make a determination under section 13 of the Housing Act in relation to repairs to the house of a person (details supplied) in County Meath; when the request for determination was received in his Department; when the house was inspected; and if he is satisfied that this matter is being dealt with expeditiously.

I received on 11 March 1980 a valid application under section 13 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Acts, 1979, for a determination as to whether or not the house in question was in good structural condition when ownership of the house was transferred by Meath County Council.

The house will be inspected at an early date. It will not be possible to make a determination until a report is furnished, following this inspection, on the structural condition of the house.

My Department's housing inspectors have been heavily burdened in recent times due to the huge volume of applications for housing grants. In addition there has been a significant increase in the volume of applications for determinations under section 13 of the 1979 Act. In these circumstances I am satisfied that the application in question, and all other such applications, are being dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
