Vol. 325 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kerry Drainage Scheme.

359.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the Minister of State at his Department and engineers from the Office of Public Works met members of the Arkeragh-Banna drainage scheme committee, during the last week of January 1980, in connection with a drainage scheme for the district and that they inspected the outlet and the 3,000 acres of land most affected by the flooding; and, if so, the outcome of investigations carried out and the proposals reached to resolve the very serious flooding problem in the district.

I confirm that the Minister of State was present at the meeting and inspection referred to.

A survey of the Akeragh-Banna area was carried out subsequently by the Office of Public Works but further study of conditions in the catchment is required before any proposals for improvements can be made. This study is still continuing.
