Vol. 325 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Double Payment.

334.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if the double payment for Christmas will apply to a person (details supplied) in Dublin who is in receipt of unemployment assistance.

In accordance with the undertaking given in the national understanding provision was made for a double payment for one week in December 1980 in weekly social welfare payments to long-term social welfare recipients

Recipients of unemployment assistance are not regarded as long-term cases. Accordingly the person concerned will not be entitled to an extra payment under the provisions of the Social Welfare (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1980.
