The labour force surveys provide the only current source of the information requested by the Deputy. Provisional data from the latest survey, relating to early June 1979, show that the number of self-employed persons (including those with employees) was 255,000 while the number of employees was 856,000.
Estimates for 1980 on the basis of the 1979 survey are not available.
