asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism if he is aware that local joinery industries have to close as a result of the continued importation of flush doors; and the quantity of such doors imported each year since 1970.

I am aware of only one joinery firm manufacturing such doors which closed down recently. While competition from imported flush doors may have been one of the factors which led to the closure of this firm, I understand that other considerations also were involved.
