Vol. 326 No. 1

Written Answers. - Price Increase Applications.

261.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism (a) the number of applications for price increases received by his Department during 1980; (b) the number sanctioned; (c) the commodity concerned; (e) the increase sanctioned; (d) the date of the increase; (f) the number of applications awaiting sanction; and (g) the name of each applicant and the commodity or service involved.

I would refer the Deputy to the published reports of the National Prices Commission for the period from January 1980 to November 1980, inclusive, copies of which are in the Dáil Library, and have been circulated to all Deputies. The commission's December 1980 report is not yet ready for publication.

Appendix A of each of the National Prices Commission's monthly reports show for the period 1 January to 30 November 1980 the names of the applicants, the products and services concerned, the price increase sought and the price increases recommended by the National Prices Commission. In 11 cases the increases approved were less than those recommended.

Section 25 of the Prices Acts prohibits me from giving some of the details requested by the Deputy.
