Vol. 326 No. 1

Written Answers. - Company Directors' Tax Payments.

300.

asked the Minister for Finance the tax paid by directors of close companies through the PAYE system in respect of 1977-78, 1978-79 and 1979-80.

Statistics relating specifically to the amount of tax paid under PAYE by directors of close companies are not compiled separately. However, it has been estimated that the amounts of income tax paid by such directors was of the order of £33½ million in 1977-78. The corresponding figure for 1978-79 is provisionally estimated to be of the order of £36 million.

Basic data are not yet available which would enable an estimate for 1979-80 to be given.
