asked the Minister for Finance (a) the number of industries in difficulties and receiving aid from Fóir Teoranta at present; (b) the number of firms who applied for grants or loans to Fóir Teoranta in the past three years; and (c) the number who were refused assistance.

(a) At present 135 firms are in receipt of assistance from Fóir Teoranta. A proportion of these would not at this stage be in financial difficulties but it is not possible to state precisely how many firms are in this category.
(b) In the last three years 215 applications were made to Fóir Teoranta for assistance (some of these would have been made by existing clients) and in the same period Fóir Teoranta were unable to approve 92 applications.
