asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it will be possible to provide a telephone service for a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

Service for this applicant is dependent on the provision of cable, which, because of the volume of engineering work requiring attention at present in the area, is unlikely to be carried out before the end of this year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the urgent need for a telex service of an applicant (details supplied) in Dublin; if spare telex lines exist in the area; if he is further aware that exports and additional employment are being lost because of the lack of service; and how soon a service can be provided.

My Department are anxious to provide service to the applicant at the earliest stage possible but cannot do so at present because the cabling necessary is not available. It is expected that it will be possible to remedy this position within the next six months or so, and service will be provided then.

Because of the volume of engineering work requiring attention in the Dublin area it is unlikely that service will be provided before the end of the year.
