Vol. 326 No. 3

Written Answers. - Widow's Pension Payment.

111.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the non-payment of a widow's pension to a person (details supplied) in south west Cork in respect of the period 2 March to 7 September 1979; and whether arrangements will now be made for payment.

The person concerned was awarded a non-contributory widow's pension at the maximum personal rate with effect from 7 September 1979. Her means, prior to this, derived from the estimated value of a farm, exceeded the then statutory limit of £884.00 and consequently no pension was payable.

An appeal against this decision was lodged by the Deputy on behalf of the widow on 12 May 1980. The appeals officer, by decision of 5 December 1980, upheld the original decision and the widow was notified accordingly on 13 January 1981.
