Vol. 326 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ballinasloe Water Scheme.

184.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in meeting with Ballinasloe UDC for the purpose of discussing the possibility of providing finance for a water augmentation scheme for that area.

Contract documents for the Ballinasloe water supply augmentation scheme are at present under consideration in my Department. The town clerk was informed on the 23 September 1980 that, as the then Minister was not in a position to indicate when a decision on the Ballinasloe scheme would be conveyed to the local authority, there would have been little point in receiving a deputation at that stage.

Recently I received a further request for a deputation on this subject from the urban district council and a reply will issue to the council in the near future.
