A study of the implications of the new microelectronic technologies for the Irish economy has been commissioned by the Government. The work is being carried out in the main by consultants and is being managed by the National Board for Science and Technology, who, in addition to carrying out some of the study work, will synthesize the findings into a final report. The EEC Commission are contributing part of the cost. The exercise is being supervised by a consultative committee covering a wide range of interests. It is hoped that the final report will be available by the middle of this year.
